Social Compliance
As a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) we are provided by a common conduct for social compliance. With the help of the BSCI we ensure an ethical working environment and sustainability within the production locations of our suppliers. Through social compliance audits done by the BSCI we try to ensure that our suppliers meet important requirements for workers and the environment:
- Safe working conditions
- Freedom of employment
- Prevention of child labour
- Accurate wage and working hour records
- No severe environmental pollution
Quality control: BRC certified
Karsten International’s dedicated Quality Manager focuses on improving the quality and safety of our products. Karsten International is BRC certified, which means our products meet the standards of quality throughout the supply chain, product safety and legal compliance. We are checked extensively on an annual basis and we are rated with the highest achievable score. This means recognition for the quality we deliver and our unbridled commitment to both retailers and their consumers to satisfy everyone.
Substances of Very High Concern (SVCH)
At Karsten International we always try to avoid working with dangerous substances and the use of these substances in our products. We ask our suppliers to actively watch out not to use or work with substances of very high concern (SVCH) as stated by The European Chemical Agency (ECHA).
We take this into account in our selection process to find the perfect supplier. In many cases there are multiple suppliers to choose from. In such case we only select suppliers who do not use SVHC.
Packaging
Packaging is a waste, but since it is necessary for the protection of the product, why not pack it sustainably? Wherever possible, we use bio-degradable materials to make sure the packaging can always be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
RSPO
Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil is an organization that promotes the growth and use of sustainable oil palm products through credible global standards. Because we use sustainably produced palm oil as an ingredient in many of our products, our manufacturers are RSPO certified.
